The Bulletin

for 1st June, 2024

Happy Pride Month everyone!

Thanks to everyone who stopped by the first annual Battonkill Valley Pride Festival at Lakota Farms yesterday! I had such a great time, and I hope y'all did too. Shout out to our fellow vendors, the volunteers, and organisers for putting on such a lovely event! And thank you to Lakota Farms for hosting on us on your beautiful farm! 💜🌈

What a wonderful, special day!!

Next up, your Bulletin for this week! There's not a lot this week, but I still put *something* together for you as I always do on the weekends. Even if I'm a day late (So sorry! Aagh!)

Upcoming Events

On 7th & 8th June, my mom will be at the Cambridge Valley Balloon Festival in Cambridge, NY. I will be there on the 7th, and then most of the day on the 8th (unfortunately have to leave early due to a prior committment.) Event times are 5pm-9pm on 7th June, and 1pm-9pm on the 8th. Hope to see you there!

On 15th June, my mom will be at the Schaghticoke Strawberry Festival at the Fairgrounds from 10am-3pm. This one's a shorter event, so keep that in mind. Unfortunately, I can't confirm whether or not I'll be able to attend this one yet or not so stay tuned. Regardless, you should stop by if you're in the area!

On 22nd June, my mom will be at the Vermont Paws & Boots 2nd Annual Fundraiser event from 10am-4pm. Similarly to the last one, I can't confirm whether or not I'll be able to attend this one yet or not, so stay tuned. But if you're in the area, stop by 89 Colgate Heights (Camelot Village) and help support an important group's mission on that Saturday!

Things I found across the net...

Is it a bird? No. A plane? No. It's a mad man with a box few links for you. Sorry.

  • Miss having TweetDeck for free? I do, and thankfully, Dimden has brought it back (along with BetterTweetDeck). You'll need the latest version of Chrome Stable or Firefox Developer Edition to install it manually, as it's not available in either web store, but it's worth it! Even if I ever subscribed to Twitter's Premium tier, I'd probably still use this since the new TweetDeck sucks.
  • This one's my blog post, but it's on why Windows Central is wrong to say 'Recall' essentially isn't as bad as everyone thinks it is. I have a lot of respect for the original author behind that piece, but it felt really dismissive to the real world concerns
  • As an update to a link I shared last week, Spotify is now facing a class-action suit against them for the impending "worldwide brick" of Car Thing. This comes as the company started issuing refunds for the device ahead of its death, so long as customers have proof-of-purchase.
  • Not gonna get super political, but this relates to the tech industry: Donald Trump is thinking of tapping everyone's second most-hated billionaire Elon Musk (the owner of Twitter) as his policy adviser if elected President in November. Interesting choice...?
  • Ticketmaster experienced a major data breach not too long ago, and Live Nation is now investigating, according to a new filing with the US government. The data of upwards of 300 million were potentially compromised by the breach, with their data being sold for $500,000 on the "dark web." This comes after the US government filed a lawsuit against Live Nation and Ticketmaster for running an alleged "illegal monopoly" over the live events industry here in the US.

What I'm listening to...

I happen to listen to a lot of music. Here’s what I’m currently listening to—usually on repeat. Here’s what I’ve got for you, for the week of 1st June, 2024…

Thanks to Odesli for making these links platform agnostic! For library stats, you can find me on last.fm.

Alright, that's all from me. See y'all next week for another edition of The Bulletin, where it's likely I might share more stuff. I can't apologise for that, it's who I am!

Much love,
Slade

The Bulletinfor 13th July, 2024 Hey there, Apologies for releasing this email a little later than usual, it was a pretty long weekend and I didn't have access to my computer for a bit. I had a great little trip and I've got some exciting news to share from that which you'll get to hear about very soon. I promise. Anywho, besides being blonde again, there's not much new going on in my life this week. I played a lot of Stardew Valley and Hi-Fi Rush, both of which are fantastic games. So instead...

The Bulletinfor 6th July, 2024 Hey you, Sorry this is a couple hours late, the platform I use to send these emails was down for a bit. Everything seems to be fine now, though, so we're back in business! Well, this past week has been filled with unexpected changes. I'm seeing a guy now for the first time in many years, and I've been really happy about where things are. I've endured a lot these past few months, and it feels like things have finally started looking up. Thank God. I had dinner...

The Bulletinfor 29th June, 2024 Hey hey hey, This week, I returned to carrying two phones: one Android phone, one iPhone (paired to an Apple Watch). Best of both worlds, if you will! This will allow me to test everything without needing to keep moving SIM cards back and forth, which has proven to be an annoying first world problem these past few years. Regardless, I'll probably do a thing on my setup at some point, but for now screenshots are at the end of this email! Either way, as I write...
