WWDC 2024 comes to a close! And other updates. [The Bulletin - 15th June, 2024]

The Bulletin
for 15th June, 2024

Hey y'all,

WWDC 2024 was filled to the top with some insane announcements that I wasn't expecting. But importantly, I got a ton worked on this week. I think you'll be seeing some stuff from me soon... what that is, I can't tell you yet, but get excited! It's worth the wait! Promise.

Other than that, I might go back to Android, but that's a conversation for another time. (Adam might kill me, but it's fine.) Anyways, I love quiet and because it has been quiet this week, there's not much else to speak of...so, without further rambling, your Bulletin!

Upcoming Events

On 22nd June, my mom will be at the Vermont Paws & Boots 2nd Annual Fundraiser event from 10am-4pm. I'll be there hanging out, so come say hi if you're in the area at 89 Colgate Heights (Camelot Village), Bennington, VT, and help support an important group's mission next Saturday!

That's it for events for the next little while. Thanks to everyone who came out to support my mom's art, or supports it online! It means a lot to me! :)

If you'd like to follow my mom on Facebook, and get more up to date information outside of this newsletter, you can find her here: https://www.facebook.com/theodessadesigns/

Things I found across the net...

Your WWDC24 roundup is here! And a couple other links, too.

  • If you're curious what's coming to iOS 18, iPadOS 18, tvOS 18, watchOS 11, and macOS 15 Sequoia, inclduing the new "Apple Intelligence" features that will be available on iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max (and later models) beginning in the fall, MacRumors has a great roundup here. (Some of my thoughts on the Corner...)
  • iOS 18 will introduce RCS support (finally) to the operating system. It will not include end-to-end encryption like Google's implementation yet, but hey, it's there. That'll make texting with Android devices so much easier with an iMessage-like experience--without the fancy apps, of course.
  • Daring Fireball presents: The Talk Show, Live from WWDC 2024 with special guests Greg Joswiak (Senior VP of Worldwide Marketing at Apple), Craig Federighi, Senior VP of Software Engineering at Apple), and John Giannandrea (Senior VP of Machine Learning and AI Strategy at Apple).

What I'm listening to...

I happen to listen to a lot of music. Here’s what I’m currently listening to—usually on repeat. Here’s what I’ve got for you, for the week of 15th June, 2024

Thanks to Odesli for making these links platform agnostic! For library stats, you can find me on last.fm.

That's all, folks! That was fairly bite-sized, but still a lot of effort to put together with all the WWDC announcements to pay attention to. Next week should be normal. I hope... Knock on wood!

Thanks, as ever, for joining me for this week's Bulletin!

With gratitude,
Slade

The Bulletinfor 13th July, 2024 Hey there, Apologies for releasing this email a little later than usual, it was a pretty long weekend and I didn't have access to my computer for a bit. I had a great little trip and I've got some exciting news to share from that which you'll get to hear about very soon. I promise. Anywho, besides being blonde again, there's not much new going on in my life this week. I played a lot of Stardew Valley and Hi-Fi Rush, both of which are fantastic games. So instead...

The Bulletinfor 6th July, 2024 Hey you, Sorry this is a couple hours late, the platform I use to send these emails was down for a bit. Everything seems to be fine now, though, so we're back in business! Well, this past week has been filled with unexpected changes. I'm seeing a guy now for the first time in many years, and I've been really happy about where things are. I've endured a lot these past few months, and it feels like things have finally started looking up. Thank God. I had dinner...

The Bulletinfor 29th June, 2024 Hey hey hey, This week, I returned to carrying two phones: one Android phone, one iPhone (paired to an Apple Watch). Best of both worlds, if you will! This will allow me to test everything without needing to keep moving SIM cards back and forth, which has proven to be an annoying first world problem these past few years. Regardless, I'll probably do a thing on my setup at some point, but for now screenshots are at the end of this email! Either way, as I write...
